About Water Filtration Tampa

Downtown Tampa across Hillsborough Bay from the Bayshore Boulevard balustrade

Water Filtration Tampa is an independent referral service for homeowners in Tampa and nearby communities who want a water filter, a water softener, a reverse osmosis system or other water treatment installed, serviced or repaired. It is not an installer or plumber. When you send the form, your details are passed to an independent local water treatment pro, who can contact you and prepare a quote. Any work, and any agreement, is between you and that pro.

What this site does

  • Explains, in plain language, what is in Tampa city water according to the City of Tampa’s own 2025 water quality report
  • Explains what softeners, filters and reverse osmosis systems do, and the published standards they are certified to
  • Sets out the federal and state advice on testing private wells
  • Passes your request to an independent local water treatment pro who works in the Tampa area

What this site does not do

  • It does not sell, install, service or repair any equipment
  • It does not test water or judge whether any water is safe
  • It gives no prices: only a pro who has seen your home and your water can quote
  • It has no showroom and no street address, and nobody from this site will visit you
  • It gives no medical advice: for questions about sodium, fluoride or your health, ask your doctor

Where the facts come from

Every figure on this site comes from a published primary source: the City of Tampa Water Department’s 2025 water quality report, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (including its WaterSense program), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the U.S. Geological Survey, the Florida Department of Health, other utilities’ own published pages and the NSF’s published standards. Where we could not confirm something at a primary source, such as a City of Tampa permit rule for softeners or which provider serves a nearby community, we say so and point you to the right office instead of guessing.

Vendor websites publish conflicting hardness figures for Tampa. We do not use them: if you are a City of Tampa customer, the city’s own figure is 211 mg/L, or 12.3 grains per gallon, as the 2025 average.

Checking a pro yourself

The pro who receives your request is a separate business. Check it as you would any contractor: ask for the quote in writing, ask which standard any equipment is certified to and ask to see the listing, ask whether the job needs a permit, and read any rental or lease agreement before you sign.

To ask for a quote, use the form on the contact page or any page of this site. To read more first, start with water softeners in Tampa or the guide to Tampa water quality.
